A photo-etched metal set in 1:72 scale for a model of the Buccaneer S.2C carrier-based attack aircraft. Thin metal parts replace the places where plastic looks too heavy.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Buccaneer is a British two-seat attack aircraft built for low-level flight and for service from the deck of an aircraft carrier. Its fuselage is conspicuously shaped to the area rule, the bomb bay is closed by a rotating door instead of conventional doors, and a split airbrake sits in the tail. For carrier operation the wingtips and the nose fold. The S.2 version received Rolls-Royce Spey turbofans instead of the original engines, with which the aircraft gained considerably more thrust and range.
Photo-etch is a thin metal sheet with the parts etched into it chemically. It comes into its own wherever the material should look thin and where a plastic part is necessarily thicker than the original would be: instrument panels, seat harnesses, covers, grilles and small fittings. The set is cut for the Buccaneer S.2C model in 1:72 scale. Which parts of the model it covers and which kit it is tuned to is given in the manufacturer's instructions, so check that it matches your model beforehand.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface; scissors will twist the thin sheet. Make the bends in a bender or between two blades, always along the marked score line. They are bonded with super glue or with a two-part glue, as polystyrene cement has no effect on metal. Before painting, degrease the metal and cover it with a primer for metal, otherwise the paint cracks and peels. Work with the small parts over a tray and put them down in a dish.
A photo-etched set is supplied. The model, glue, paints and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
