1:72 Dassault Mirage F.1 pitot tube and angle of attack probe is a pair of turned metal parts that replace the small probes on the nose of a model in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains turned metal probes for a model of the Dassault Mirage F.1 in 1:72 scale. It is an accessory for a plastic kit, not an aircraft model. The kit has to be bought separately.
The probes on the nose are among the parts that a mold can never produce as slender as the scale would require. The result is either too thick a tube, or a thin part with a molding parting line that has to be laboriously sanded away, and that on a round surface without losing its circular section. Turned metal has a circular section by its very nature and has no seam at all. The second advantage is purely practical: a brass probe survives what leaves a plastic one on the carpet.
First try both parts dry and note which one goes where; small metal parts get lost on a workbench more easily than plastic ones. Drill the holes with a micro drill bit exactly to the diameter of the pin and on the axis. A drop of cyanoacrylate applied with a pin is enough for gluing. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting, otherwise the paint will flake off at a touch once dry. Apply a thin primer for metal and only then the top shade. Plan the installation for the end of the build, after varnishing. The set combines well with photo-etched parts, where the procedure with primer is the same.
An accessory for a plastic kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
