The subject of the sheet is clearly set out: Mosquitos flown by Australian airmen, both in units of the Royal Australian Air Force and in squadrons of the Royal Air Force. The de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito is among the most interesting aircraft of the Second World War. Its airframe was built largely of wood, which saved strategic metals and made it possible to bring furniture workshops into the work; the result was a fast twin-engine machine that in its early versions relied on speed instead of defensive armament. The Mosquito served as a bomber, a fighter-bomber, a night fighter and a reconnaissance aircraft. Australian airmen met it on both sides of the world, in European squadrons of the RAF and in RAAF units in the Pacific, where they put the type into attack and reconnaissance tasks.
Go over the base under the markings with a gloss varnish so that it is smooth and no air is trapped under the film. Cut the decal out together with its backing, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until it starts to slide freely. Slide it onto the model with a moistened brush, press the excess water out with a soft cloth from the center toward the edges, and then apply a decal softener, which draws the decal down into the engraved lines and over the curves of the fuselage and the engine nacelles. Once it has dried perfectly, overcoat the model with a matte or satin varnish; on the wooden structure of the Mosquito a smooth, only slightly matte surface looks the most faithful.
