The third sheet of a series from the British brand Xtradecal in 1:72 scale, devoted to de Havilland DH.82A trainer biplanes in the service of overseas military operators. It is neither a kit nor a plastic accessory, but a printed sheet of markings for a finished painted model. The particular countries, machines and the extent of the markings are given on the packaging and in the instructions supplied, so compare it before buying with what you want to build.
The Tiger Moth became one of the most widespread trainers of its day. Besides British production it was also built under license in other countries, and a number of air forces put it into basic pilot training. The design stayed simple: a welded tube frame for the forward fuselage, wooden wings and fabric covering. Overseas operators marked the machines according to their own regulations, so different national insignia, fuselage numbers and training highlights appear on them that are not found on British aircraft.
Calm handling is what decides. Once a decal has rested, do not carry it with tweezers, whose points will pierce the thin film, but slide it off the backing into place with a soft flat brush. On slippery gloss varnish the decal can then still be fine-tuned for a few tens of seconds, as long as a little water stays under it. The struts, the bracing and the wire rigging of a biplane get in the way of a decal, so work the order out in advance and lay on the markings that lie close to the rigging before the model is complete.
The package contains the decal sheet only. The model, paints and glue are not part of it.
