A set of accurately pre-cut self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech maker Eduard for the model of the German Dornier Do 217 night fighter in the J and N versions in 1:72 scale. It is neither a kit nor a model: it is an accessory that makes it easier to paint the framing of the glazing and other small areas cleanly. The masks are applied directly to the parts, so the frames of the glazing get sharp straight edges with no laborious cutting of adhesive tape. Sets of this type also include circular masks for the wheel rims, for a clean division between the tire and the rim.
The Dornier Do 217 was a German twin-engine combat aircraft of the Second World War, developed from the Do 17 and Do 215 series. The J and N versions were night and heavy fighter variants with dense gun armament in the nose, intended for combat against night bombers. They were operated by the Luftwaffe as part of the night defense of the airspace of the Reich.
Lift the mask carefully off the backing with tweezers or the point of a knife and lay it on the dry, degreased surface of the glazing. Press the edges down thoroughly so that no paint runs under them. Apply the paint in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush, and pull the mask off before the coat has dried completely. On strongly curved shapes it helps to back the edge with masking fluid.
This is a set of painting masks, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
