The resin, or rather 3D-printed, kit from the Czech manufacturer Planet Models captures the German portable electric generator with an output of 8 kW together with the Sd.Ah.51 transport trailer. It is not an aircraft model or a vehicle on its own, but an accessory intended to complete scenes with anti-aircraft searchlights and Flak units. Because of the material the kit is intended for more experienced modelers.

The real subject

The generator served as a power source for the 60 cm Flak Sw-36 anti-aircraft searchlights. It was driven by an internal combustion engine and a single unit could supply several searchlights. Like the searchlight, it was transported on the single-axle Sd.Ah.51 trailer, which is part of the set.

Building and painting tips

First wash any mold release residue off the parts, cut off the casting gates and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Protect your airways when sanding resin. Apply a primer suitable for resin, then the base German shade; washes and pigments will help to dirty the vehicle faithfully and to blend it into a diorama.
