An injection-molded plastic kit of the rare American experimental fighter North American F-107A Ultra Sabre in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. It models the unusual prototype with its characteristic air intake set above the fuselage behind the cockpit. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted, with a decal sheet and instructions.
The North American F-107A was an American supersonic fighter-bomber developed from the F-100 Super Sabre. Its most striking feature was the large air intake set above the fuselage just behind the cockpit. The aircraft first flew in 1956 and in testing reached about twice the speed of sound. Only three prototypes were built; the F-107A never went into series production, because the service preferred the F-105. It has therefore remained a sought-after rarity.
Separate the parts from the sprues, clean them up and glue them with a thin cement for plastic. Apply a primer; the natural metal surface of the prototype comes out well in shades of aluminum and polished metal laid on with an airbrush, and the individual panels can be graded. Pick out the engraved detail with a thin wash. One point to watch: the deep red markings may not be included in the decals, so it is worth spraying them.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
