This injection-molded plastic kit from the manufacturer Hobby Boss captures the American Grumman F-14A Tomcat carrier fighter in the colors of squadron VF-1 Wolf Pack in 1:72 scale. The kit is made up of more than a hundred parts on several sprues and holds decals for two sets of markings. The finished model measures roughly 26.5 cm in length and about 27 cm in span.
The F-14 came about at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s as a machine for the air defense of a naval formation. The two-seat Tomcat with its variable-geometry wing and powerful radar carried long-range missiles and became an icon of the US Navy. The F-14A version was the basic production variant.
The variable-geometry wings call for careful assembly, so that they can be set in various positions. Detail the cockpit and the nose landing gear before closing the fuselage up. Use a thin cement for plastic and a fine primer; you will adjust the low-contrast gray navy schemes with gentle emphasis of the panel lines and a discreet wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
