Masking templates cut from kabuki tape in 1:72 scale for models of the F-14B Bombcat and the F-14D, in the configuration designated EXPERT BASIC.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-14 Tomcat is an American two-seat carrier aircraft with a variable-geometry wing. The B and D versions are its later configurations and the F-14D was the last Tomcat built in series. The nickname Bombcat caught on after the machine, built originally for the defense of a naval group, took over attacks on ground targets as well. For modelers the most laborious place on both versions is the glazing of the long two-seat cockpit with its broken-up frame.
Masking templates cut to shape from kabuki tape for 1:72 scale. That tape is thin and pliable, it conforms to a rounded surface and holds only mildly, so when carefully taken off it will not tear a dried layer of paint away. The designation EXPERT BASIC is the manufacturer's own marking within its line. Which parts of the model the templates cover and which kit they are cut for are stated in the manufacturer's instructions.
The templates are applied before spraying, onto a clean, dry and degreased surface. Carry them over with tweezers or the tip of a knife, lay them on along the outline and press them down with a soft tool so that the edge seats everywhere, otherwise the paint will get under it. Spray in thin coats and let them set between passes, as a thick coat tears when the mask is taken off. Take the template off before the paint cures completely; the edge will then stay sharp and the margin will not break away.
The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
