An injection-molded plastic kit of the famous American carrier fighter Grumman F-14B Tomcat in 1:72 scale from the Japanese manufacturer FineMolds. The model captures the B version and offers correctly shaped engine nozzles matching the B and D versions, which differ from those of the original A version. The package contains markings for squadron VF-143 Pukin' Dogs with its bold artwork on the vertical tail surface.
The F-14 Tomcat was a twin-engine carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing, able to operate from aircraft carriers. The F-14B version received more powerful F110-GE-400 engines and modernized onboard electronics, which replaced the weaker and more troublesome powerplant of the original A version. Tomcats of this version served above all with the Atlantic and Mediterranean carrier air wings of the US Navy. The aircraft became famous for its long range, its two-man crew and its ability to carry heavy long-range guided missiles.
Use liquid cement for plastic and build in subassemblies. Finish the cockpit with its pair of seats before closing the fuselage. Pay attention to the mechanism and the position of the variable-geometry wing according to the presentation you choose. Apply a primer before varnishing and lay the paints down with an airbrush. For the naval gray scheme, fine shading of the panels and discreet weathering from deck service work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
