A photo-etched accessory set for a model of the F-14D carrier-based fighter in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-14 was a two-seat carrier-based fighter of the US Navy with a variable-geometry wing: on take-off and landing on the deck the wing stayed spread, and as speed increased it swept back. In the cockpit the pilot sat in front with the weapon systems officer behind him. The F-14D version was the last of the whole family and carried upgraded cockpit equipment.
Etched metal replaces those places on a model where plastic cannot be thin enough. In 1:72 scale that goes double: thicker plastic edges and flat surfaces are most visible on a small model, and replacing them with sheet a few hundredths of a millimeter thick shows even to the naked eye. Which range of parts the set contains and which kit it is cut for are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the parts out with a sharp blade on a hard surface and leave a little excess material on them, which you then sand away. Small parts at this scale easily ping off, so work over a tray with raised edges or over a cloth. Make the bends along the score lines marked. They are glued with super glue in a tiny amount; any excess runs into the surrounding area and goes white once dry. Before painting, degrease the metal and spray it with a base coat.
The aircraft kit, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
