About product

What the set is for

The set replaces the rear part of the powerplants on a model of the F-15 Eagle and Strike Eagle. The nozzles match the F100-PW-220 engines and are rendered in the closed position, that is with the exit area drawn in. According to the name they suit the A, B, C, D, early E and Japanese J versions and they are prepared for the Hasegawa kit.

Closed or open position

The area of the nozzle on this engine changes with the operating regime. The closed position corresponds to running without the afterburner, whereas an aircraft with its engines shut down has the nozzles spread open instead. Closed nozzles therefore suit a model captured in flight rather than an aircraft standing on the apron. The swap also pays off because you can see into the nozzles on a finished model, and more finely rendered petals and inner walls show at first glance even from a distance.

Building and painting tips

  • The parts are not polystyrene and are glued with cyanoacrylate glue.
  • Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder down.
  • Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint holds on them poorly.
  • Metallic shades come out best if you darken the recesses between the petals with a thin glaze.
  • Seating them in the fuselage and the specific gluing procedure follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Terms of supply

This is an accessory for a kit. The kit itself, paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

According to the name the A, B, C, D, early E and Japanese J versions, and for the Hasegawa kit in 1:72 scale.

A closed area corresponds to the engine running without the afterburner. For an aircraft standing with its engines shut down the spread-open version is more suitable.

They are not polystyrene, so ordinary modeling cement for plastic will not take. Use cyanoacrylate glue and degrease the surfaces before joining them.

The name gives the exhaust nozzles. What exactly the package contains beyond that should be checked against the manufacturer's description.
