A masking accessory for building a model in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Art Scale. The set covers the clear areas of the cockpit canopy of the Great Wall Hobby kit so that only the framing is left exposed while spraying, and that framing is then sprayed with an airbrush. The version is single-sided, so the masks are intended for the outer side of the clear part. It is not a kit or decals but an accessory that replaces the tedious and imprecise application of strips of masking tape.
The F-15E is a two-seat multi-role configuration derived from the twin-engine F-15 fighter, adapted for strikes on ground targets while keeping its fighter capability. It is told apart from the single-seat versions by its tandem cockpit and by the conformal tanks that hug the sides of the fuselage. The cockpit canopy is long and continuous and carries only a few frames, which paradoxically does not make hand masking easier: long straight edges are harder to follow with tape than short sections, and any waviness shows at once on a large area.
Wash and degrease the clear part, otherwise the mask will not hold and paint will run under it. Carry the masks with tweezers, seat them along the frame and press them down carefully with a soft tool along the whole length of the edge. Trim any overhang with a fresh blade exactly along the outline, at minimal pressure. On a long canopy it pays to check the adhesion against the light; any air bubble means an edge with paint under it. Spray a thin sealing coat of base color, then the shade itself in several light passes, and take the mask off once the paint has flashed off, pulling it back over itself.
It is an accessory for a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
