This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale is aimed at the Japanese F-15J in the special scheme of the 305th Squadron from 2022 at Nyutabaru air base. It is that scheme which is the reason to buy the box: an ordinary gray F-15J looks different, and the colorful schemes of Japanese squadrons appear only in limited runs. The 1:72 scale keeps the model compact even with a large twin-engined fighter.
The F-15J is the Japanese version of the American F-15 Eagle interceptor, built under license by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. It is a single-seat twin-engined aircraft with large twin vertical surfaces and powerful turbofan engines, designed mainly for air defense. In the Japan Air Self-Defense Force it forms the backbone of the interceptor force, and the machines are going through a gradual upgrade. Nyutabaru air base in the south of Japan is one of the home bases of squadrons with this type.
The color scheme is the main discipline with this box. The base has to be smooth and even, or the differences will show through the glossy colors. Finish the cockpit before closing the fuselage up, put weight in the nose and do not forget to unify the inside of the intakes. Apply the large decals step by step, onto gloss varnish, with a softener and with the air pressed out carefully, because a bubble forms easily across the vertical surfaces and the spine. Accentuate the panel lines gently, so that they do not overwhelm the scheme. At the end apply a clear coat in whatever sheen you want, and add the landing gear and the armament.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
