1:72 F-16I is a set of 3D decals from Kelik for a model of the two-seat variant of the F-16. It is applied with water and replaces the flat details of a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small scale puts the hardest demands on detail. The areas are tiny, hand-painting switches and dials is at the limit of eyesight, and a photo-etched part in 1:72 often looks flat. A set of 3D decals solves that problem differently: the elements are printed with their own relief, colored at the factory and transferred onto the model with water like a decal.
A photo-etched set is thin metal that has to be cut out, bent, glued with cyanoacrylate glue and painted. Every one of those steps is a risk in 1:72. Here both the gluing and the painting fall away, and the three-dimensional structure arises directly from printing. The drawback is the other way round: an element is tied to the shape of a particular kit and cannot be bent to a different angle, so buy the set for the model it is cut for.
Smooth the area under the element, spray it with base paint and overcoat it with gloss varnish, otherwise a milky veil will appear under the decal. Release the element in lukewarm water, settle it in place and blot up the excess water. Use the softener sparingly and in layers. Once dry, unify the sheen with a matte or satin varnish.
It is an accessory for a kit, not a model of the aircraft. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
