The Hornet is a twin-engine carrier-based aircraft able to carry out fighter and attack tasks without being re-armed between flights. It entered service with the US Navy and the US Marine Corps in the first half of the 1980s. Characteristic of it are the twin canted vertical tail surfaces, the leading edge extensions that allow flight at high angles of attack, and robust landing gear for deck landings. Variant B is the two-seat form of the single-seat version A: the second seat behind the pilot came at the cost of part of the internal tank, and the machine was used mainly for training while keeping its combat capability. Besides the United States, a number of other countries introduced the Hornet, among them Spain, Canada and Australia.
Glue the classic injection-molded plastic with thin cement for plastic and dry-fit the parts first. The fuselage joints and the transitions of the air intakes will take the most work, so expect filling and sanding, after which it is a good idea to restore the engraving that has been lost. The two-seat cockpit is clearly visible in this scale, so it is worth investing time in it before the fuselage is closed. After degreasing, spray the whole model with primer and only then with the silvery gray shades of carrier aircraft; those stand up to pronounced panel fading and soiling, because real machines age quickly on deck. Spray gloss clear before the decals and even out the surface with a semi-gloss clear coat once they have dried.
