1:72 F-4 Phantom spine is a Black Dog set for the fuselage spine of the legendary Phantom. It is used during the build of a model, not in place of it.
Responsibility details are not available.
On the Phantom the spine behind the cockpit is among the most complex areas in shape, and in a small scale it is where the difference between kits shows fastest. This Black Dog set deals with the area on its own, so a modeler can work it up without touching the rest of the airframe. It is added to a model under construction and does not replace a kit of its own.
The F-4 Phantom II is a two-seat twin-engine machine that became one of the most widespread combat aircraft of the second half of the twentieth century. It served with the navy and the air force, flew as a fighter, a bomber and a reconnaissance machine, and a number of countries operated it long after production ended. Its silhouette with the cranked outer wing panels and the drooped horizontal tail surfaces is characteristic.
First mark out on the model the area that will be removed and cut with some margin: tuning it is always possible, replacing removed plastic is not. Level the cut edges with a file and check the surface against the light so that you catch any waviness. Once the part is in, fill the seam and sand it back so that the transition is not visible in the finished paint. Before you start spraying, check the transition with a coat of primer; it reveals imperfection more reliably than the eye.
The set comes unpainted and fitting it assumes a sander, filler and a little patience.
