The Phantom II is a two-seat twin-engined combat aircraft that became one of the most widespread machines of its generation. Two turbojet engines power it, and at first glance you will recognize it by the upward-cranked wingtips and the downward-angled horizontal tail surface. The F-4EJ designation belongs to the Japanese form derived from the F-4E version. The Kai suffix then refers to a later modernization, in which the machines received newer onboard equipment and stayed in service substantially longer than had originally been reckoned with.
It is a plastic kit in 1:72 scale, that is in the size that gives a reasonably large model of a twin-engined aircraft even for a smaller display case. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The exact extent of the parts, the armament and the number of marking options are given by the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
Before gluing, remove the surplus material and the marks left by production from the parts, sand the mating faces and try the assembly dry. On the Phantom watch out for the joint of the nose with the fuselage and for the seating of the intakes, where discrepancies show most. Paint the cockpit and the landing gear bays before you glue the fuselage. Japanese machines are presented in gray schemes, on which a fine shading of the panels and wear around the walkways and hatches stands out.
Paints, glue, filler and accessory sets are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
