A set of photo-etched parts from the manufacturer Eduard for a plastic model of the F-6C reconnaissance aircraft in 1:72 scale. It belongs to the full color series, that is to the more extensive variant of the accessory with pre-painted parts. The set is neither a model of an aircraft nor a kit; the base model has to be obtained separately. The exact contents of the sheets are not stated here.
The F-6C is the photo-reconnaissance variant of the P-51 Mustang fighter, adapted to carry cameras. Outwardly it stays very close to the Mustang and differs mainly in its equipment, so in building it the detail decides, not the shape.
On a type that differs from the basic version in fine points, it is precisely the detail that moves the quality on. The pre-painted parts come finished in their colors and save the most demanding painting, and the rest of the sheet is made up of metal parts in bare sheet. Working with colored photo-etch has its rule, though: the finished color layer is thin, and any sanding, aggressive thinner or heavy application of cyanoacrylate will damage it beyond repair.
Take the pre-painted parts with tweezers by the edge, not with your fingers, and do not try to knock them back to matte. Dose the glue with a pin in minute drops. Finish the interior before the fuselage is glued together. The bare metal parts, by contrast, should be degreased and sprayed with primer before painting, otherwise the finish will not hold on the smooth sheet.
The set is an accessory for building a plastic model, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
