This is a resin set made for the plastic kit of the American Vought F-8 Crusader carrier fighter in 1:72 scale. The package replaces the wheels of the model with faithfully cast resin parts carrying a recessed tire tread pattern and defined hubs. Masking film is included, which makes it easier to paint the tire and the hub cleanly without the labor of cutting masks.

The real subject

The F-8 Crusader was an American single-seat carrier fighter with a characteristic variable-incidence wing, which was raised for takeoff and landing on a deck. It was a supersonic machine armed with cannon and guided missiles and served above all with the Navy.

Building and usage tips

Wash the wheels to remove any mold release agent and separate them from the casting blocks. Bond the cast tires with their recessed tread with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Stick the masking film onto the wheel, spray the tire, and once the mask is peeled off the hub is left cleanly bounded. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
