An injection-molded plastic kit of the American fighter Vought F4U-1 Corsair in 1:72 scale from Academy. The model captures the unmistakable fighter with its inverted gull wing, with engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit and clear canopy parts. The box holds injection-molded plastic sprues and a decal sheet; check the exact contents and markings against the particular release.
The Corsair was created at the end of the 1930s as a high-performance carrier fighter built around the most powerful radial engine available. To make room for the large propeller it received its typical inverted gull wing profile, which became its recognition feature. It was committed at the end of the Second World War and later in the Korean War in the service of the US Navy and the Marine Corps, and it made its name as one of the most successful fighters of the Pacific.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, then fill and sand the gaps. Paint the cockpit interior and pick out its detail before closing up the fuselage. Lay a gloss coat before the decals; complete the dark blue naval scheme with a panel line wash and light wear applied with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
