Brengun 1:72 resin replacement wheels for the Vought F4U Corsair with the diamond tread pattern. An accessory for a plastic kit, not a standalone aircraft model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of cast resin wheels in 1:72 scale for a model of the carrier-based fighter Vought F4U Corsair. It is an aftermarket accessory that replaces the wheels from a plastic kit; the model itself is not part of the package. The diamond tread is one of several tread patterns that occurred on the tires of American aircraft of that time, and it is precisely the choice of pattern that turns an otherwise inconspicuous part into a recognition feature of a particular machine.
The wheels are the only place where the model stands on its base, and the eye therefore goes to them first. Injection-molded plastic tends to be split into two halves, so a seam runs across the tread; as soon as you sand it away, a piece of the tread pattern goes with it. A resin casting is in one piece, has the pattern all the way around the circumference and tends to have sharper engraving on the hub. Whether the wheels have a flattened contact patch is worth checking with the manufacturer, as the sets differ in this and the name does not say.
First wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water; mold release residue prevents paint from adhering. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc, not with nippers, so that the casting is not crushed. Sand resin wet and with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). A tire is not black: reach for a very dark gray, separate the hub with a mask or a circle template and suggest dust on the contact patch with a dry pigment at the very end.
This is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
