An injection-molded plastic kit of the Grumman F6F-3 Hellcat carrier fighter in 1:72 scale by Hobby Boss. It belongs to the simplified-construction line, where the fuselage and the lower wing are made up of a few large parts, so the model comes together quickly even for a less experienced modeler. The package holds engraved surface lines, a simple cockpit, a rotating three-blade propeller, a clear canopy and a decal sheet for several color schemes.
The Hellcat was the main carrier fighter of the US Navy in the Pacific war. It was powered by a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine of around 2000 hp, which made it rugged, fast and a good climber. It entered combat in 1943 and quickly gained the upper hand over Japanese A6M Zero fighters. Its armament consisted of six large-caliber machine guns and the machine was known for its sturdy construction and its ability to take a hit and still come back to the carrier.
Use liquid modeling cement made for plastic, which flows into the joints by capillary action. Before painting, a filler primer is recommended to even out the surface and bring out the engraving. An airbrush suits the dark blue Pacific camouflage, and small details can be finished with a brush. Fit the rotating propeller only after painting, so that it keeps turning.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
