About product

Roden Felixstowe F.2A (late) 1:72

This injection-molded plastic kit from the Ukrainian company Roden captures the British twin-engine flying boat Felixstowe F.2A in its late form in 1:72 scale. It is a large biplane; the set is meant to be glued and painted and holds clear parts for the glazed sections and decals for period color schemes.

The real subject

The Felixstowe F.2A was a large British flying boat fielded in the First World War for patrolling over the North Sea and for action against submarines and airships. It had a wooden boat hull and two inline engines. The late form was marked out by an added gun position on the upper wing with its characteristic cupola for the gunner.

Building and painting tips

Given the size and the number of fine parts, pay attention to gluing the lifting surfaces and the struts firmly. Glue with a thin cement for plastic, use a primer and an airbrush. Put the emphasis on the bracing wires and on seating the engine nacelles and the boat hull carefully.

Who the model is for

  • Anyone interested in naval aviation of the First World War
  • Modelers who enjoy flying boats and large biplanes
  • More experienced builders used to bracing wires and large models
  • Collectors of British aircraft in 1:72 scale

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
