An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Fieseler Fi-156 Storch liaison and observation aircraft in 1:72 scale from Smer. The package contains gray plastic parts and extensive cockpit glazing plus a decal sheet. The model comes from an older, simpler mold and is a rewarding subject thanks to its unmistakable strut-braced structure.
The Fi-156 Storch, meaning stork, became famous for its exceptional short take-off and landing (STOL) ability: thanks to the high-lift devices on the wing it could take off and land in a few tens of meters. It served for liaison, reconnaissance, artillery spotting and casualty evacuation and became one of the best known aircraft of its kind. It was built in thousands of examples, mostly in the Fi-156 C version.
Pay attention to the thin struts and the tall landing gear: glue them firmly and let them dry thoroughly. Mask the extensive cockpit glazing carefully before painting. Join the parts with thin cement for plastic, secure the surface with a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
