An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Sword. The parts are in light gray plastic with fine engraved panel lines, and the box is completed by resin parts, a clear canopy and good decals. It is a typical short-run kit that rewards careful work.
The North American FJ-2 Fury was a swept-wing carrier fighter created by adapting the famous F-86 Sabre for service aboard aircraft carriers. It served with the US Navy and the Marine Corps in the 1950s; most of the machines built went to Marine Corps units. It was an important intermediate step in the transition of carrier aviation to swept-wing jets.
With short-run kits expect to clean up the edges of the moldings and to dry-fit as needed. Wash the resin parts to remove the mold release residue, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Lay down a primer before painting; glossy metal surfaces come out best on a smooth base. Set the decals on gloss varnish and go over them with matte or semi-gloss according to the look you want.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
