A die-cut self-adhesive masking set for the Finnish 4th production series of the Fokker D.XXI fighter in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand Peewit. It is not an aircraft model but a set of precisely cut masks from fine masking tape, which make it easier to spray the canopy frames and other areas cleanly without laborious cutting of tape by hand.
The Fokker D.XXI was a Dutch fighter with a high wing and a fixed landing gear, built under license during the war by the Finnish state aircraft factory as well. Because the British Bristol Mercury radial engine was in short supply, the Finnish 4th production series received a Pratt & Whitney Twin Wasp Junior radial engine instead. This version was used by the Finns alone. The enclosed cockpit with its many-framed canopy is a typical place where accurate masks pay off.
Transfer the masks onto a perfectly clean, degreased surface, seat them exactly and press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or a burnisher so that the paint cannot seep under them. Spray the inner shade of the framing first, then the outer color once it is dry, and take the masks off before the paint has cured completely. Any adhesive residue comes away with gentle moistening.
The set contains self-adhesive masks; it is not a model and not a kit. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
