An injection-molded plastic kit of the German fighter Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. It belongs to the line of easy-build models with a low part count and one-piece fuselage and wings, so it suits less experienced modelers and a quick build too. A clear cockpit canopy and a decal sheet are included. Glue and paints are not included in the package.
The Fw 190D-9, nicknamed the Dora, was the development peak of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter. Instead of the radial engines of the previous versions it received the liquid-cooled inverted V12 Junkers Jumo 213, with a characteristically lengthened nose and rear fuselage. This change markedly improved its performance at higher altitudes and its speed. It entered service in the autumn of 1944 and was among the most capable German fighters of the closing stage of the Second World War. It was used to defend airspace and to protect the airfields of the jet Me 262s, which were vulnerable during takeoff and landing.
Glue the parts with thin cement for plastic. Before painting we recommend a base coat, which will even out the surface and bring out the fine engraving. The typical late-war camouflage with shades of gray and green comes out best with an airbrush; fine-tune the small details and the position markings with a brush. A fine wash will pick out the panel lines and a final matte varnish will unify the whole model.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
