The penetrating GBU-31 JDAM with a BLU-109 warhead and thermal protection: four guided bombs in 1:72, printed in resin by AMMO of Mig Jimenez.
Responsibility details are not available.
Four guided bombs of the 2000 pound weight class, whose body carries a protective thermal coating. The parts were made by 3D printing in resin and carry the relief of the guidance kit as well as a rougher surface texture. A decal sheet is enclosed.
The JDAM designation does not belong to the bomb itself, but to the kit that turns unguided ordnance into a precision weapon: a tail module with a satellite and inertial system plus aerodynamic strakes on the body. The BLU-109 warhead has a thick-walled steel body and is built to punch through concrete shelters, command posts and hardened shelters, so that it goes off inside the target. A heat-resistant coating lowers the risk of initiation in a fire nearby, which is crucial on the decks of aircraft carriers and in magazines. It is carried by the Strike Eagle, the Fighting Falcon, the Hornet and the Lightning II.
After cutting the supports off, check that both halves of the strake sit on the same axis; a file will correct small deviations. The protective layer can be imitated with a very fine roughening of the spray coat or with a thin layer of thicker paint. The shades run from light gray to green-gray and the decals seat best on a gloss base.
The carrier model, paints and glue are not included.
