Aires 1:72 German 13 mm MG 131 guns is a resin set of cast machine guns for refining German aircraft of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin detail set from the Aires brand brings faithful castings of the German 13 mm MG 131 aircraft machine gun in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for experienced modelers that replaces the simplified plastic weapons from a kit with crisply cast parts with fine detail. It comes into its own wherever the armament on a model is exposed or clearly visible.
The MG 131 was a German 13 mm aircraft machine gun of Rheinmetall-Borsig design, widely used by the Luftwaffe in the second half of the Second World War. Thanks to its compact size it was installed in the fuselages and wings of a number of fighters and bombers; it replaced weaker machine guns of smaller caliber and increased firepower. It was part of the typical armament of German aircraft at the end of the war.
Wash the small castings in lukewarm soapy water and rid them of mold release agent. Cut off the casting blocks with a sharp knife or a fine saw and clean up the surfaces. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and work with tweezers: the parts are small and fragile. The barrels and the details come into their own once painted in metallic shades and lightly picked out.
The set is supplied as resin parts, unassembled and unpainted. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for a plastic kit. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
