An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Jagdtiger heavy tank destroyer in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter, in the form with a lengthened 128 mm gun barrel of L/61 length. The standard Jagdtiger carried the 128 mm gun in the shorter L/55 length; the longer L/61 barrel is a projected what-if change of armament, popular above all thanks to computer games. The package contains plastic sprues and flexible tracks. The model is about 16 cm long.
The Jagdtiger (Sd.Kfz. 186) was the heaviest series-produced German tank destroyer of the Second World War. It was built on the lengthened chassis of the Tiger II tank and in its massive fixed superstructure it carried a 128 mm gun, which could destroy opponents at long range. The vehicle had thick frontal armor but suffered from great weight, unreliability and poor mobility. The lengthened L/61 barrel is a hypothetical variant that never went into production.
Build a tracked vehicle in subassemblies. Finish and paint the running gear and the flexible tracks before you close the hull and fit the superstructure. Glue the plastic with liquid modeling cement. Apply a primer before painting; late-war German three-color camouflage suggests itself. Create the weathering with a dark wash, dust pigments on the running gear and picking out the edges. Line the long barrel up precisely so that it does not point crookedly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
