This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale renders the Leopard 2 A7V, the newest production version of the German main battle tank. The model from Vespid Models offers an exceptional level of detail for its small size. Besides the plastic parts, the package holds photo-etched parts, wire and decals; the turret hatches can be built open or closed and a metal gun barrel as well as a plastic barrel option are usually included.
The Leopard 2 A7V represents a thorough upgrade of the proven Leopard 2 series. It combines reinforced armor, an improved drivetrain and a modern fire control system with digital equipment. The version was gradually introduced into the German land forces and ranks among the best-protected and most modern Western tanks of today. The compact running gear, the angular turret and the long barrel of the smoothbore gun make this machine a striking subject for collectors of contemporary vehicles.
First clean the parts of flash. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic and fix the metal barrel with cyanoacrylate. Apply a filler primer before painting and lay the shades on with an airbrush. Contemporary German tanks usually carry a three-color camouflage pattern; weathering is helped by fine washes into the recesses and dry pigment dust on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included, unless stated otherwise.
