An injection-molded plastic kit of the German armored locomotive Panzerlok BR57 in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The model captures the armored steam engine that formed the heart of the German armored trains of the Second World War. The package offers a sloped armored superstructure, finely engraved detail with the rivets indicated, an elaborate running gear and a base with rails and ties for an effective display of the finished model.
The BR57 class locomotive was based on a proven Prussian freight engine of the early 20th century with an 0-10-0 wheel arrangement. In the Second World War these locomotives were given armor and became the driving force of the German armored trains, which protected rear supply routes and fought partisans. The armor covered the boiler and the driver's position against small-arms fire.
Assemble and paint the intricate running gear and the rods before closing up the shell. Spray the armored superstructure in a German shade and bring out the edges with a dry brush. Apply a wash into the recesses and around the rivets, and rust and dust pigments on the running gear and the lower areas. Place the finished model on the enclosed track base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
