German staff tent type 4 1:72 is a resin casting of the small Kleine Stabszelt staff tent from Metallic Details.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for a diorama, not a kit of equipment. The box holds one resin casting of a German military tent of the Second World War period, listed by the manufacturer as the small staff tent Kleine Stabszelt, in 1:72 scale. It is supplied unpainted, and paints and glue are not included in the package. The smaller size is an advantage in practice: the tent fits even into a narrow vignette where a large group tent would take up the whole area.
A smaller staff tent served as a workplace for a few people, that is a command conference, a signals position or an office in the field. It could be pitched quickly and without heavy equipment: canvas panels tensioned over poles, guyed with lines and pegged into the ground. These small tents were the most common sight at field positions, because they were easy to camouflage and could be struck in a moment when a headquarters moved. On a diorama one therefore sits naturally beside a single vehicle or a small group of figures without the scene looking oversized.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting block off with a saw and level the underside with sanding paper so that the tent sits flat on its base; do not breathe resin dust in. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). After the primer, lay down the base shade of the canvas and go on with a lighter dry brush along the ridges of the folds and a dark wash into their depths. On a small part it pays to paint rather subtly, as too strong a contrast would look coarse at this size. Dust the hem at ground level with pigments and add static grass.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
