This is not an aircraft kit but an aftermarket detail set. The finely cast resin Bristol Mercury radial engine replaces the simplified engine of the base kit and offers a faithful rendering of the cylinders and of the details of the powerplant, which show to advantage above all on models with an open engine bay. The set is intended for models of the Gloster Gladiator biplane in 1:72 scale.
The Gloster Gladiator was the last British fighter biplane to reach operational service. Although modern monoplanes already had the edge on it by the outbreak of the Second World War, it made its mark in defensive fighting, among other places over Malta. It was powered by an air-cooled Bristol Mercury radial engine.
Wash the mold release agent off the parts, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). We recommend painting the engine and picking it out with metallic shades and a dark wash before you close the cowling; do the sanding with respiratory protection.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and serves to improve the base kit, which it does not include.
