A goose in 1:72 scale, that is, in the scale in which most aircraft models and a great many hardware models are built. The figure is an accessory for a diorama, so it is aimed at builders of scenes rather than at collectors of stand-alone figures. The same subject is issued in another scale as well, and other farm animals are in the same series, so a scene can be extended step by step while keeping a consistent character.
A small animal can settle a scene in a particular place better than another human figure. A village green, a farmyard, the edge of a pond, a ditch by a field track or an embankment with a worn footpath gain from a goose a calm that naturally jars with the hardware in the scene. A small figure also helps the viewer read the scale of the whole scene, because he knows the animal and judges its size without thinking. In 1:72 it is a very small part, so reckon on working with tweezers and with good light.
The material of the part and the recommended procedure are given on the packaging and in the manufacturer's instructions, so choose the glue accordingly: cyanoacrylate glue belongs on resin and on metal, solvent cement for plastic models on polystyrene. Wash and degrease the part before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold. On a figure this small three steps will do: a light base, a thin dark coat drawn into the recesses and finally a dry brush along the back. Leave the beak and the legs darker and slightly glossy, and suggest the eye with the tip of a brush. Carry the shade of the base onto the lower part of the legs, so that the animal visually belongs to the terrain.
A base, terrain, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
