The Eduard photo-etched set for the 1:72 Gotha Go-242A is an accessory for a model of the German Second World War transport glider in a small scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set brings fine metal parts that a plastic model in this scale cannot offer on its own: thin sections, grilles, brackets and small equipment for the cargo compartment. The photo-etch is separated from the fret and glued with super glue, so it is an accessory for a modeler who already has some experience of building. Eduard is based in Obrnice near Most and makes its photo-etch in the Czech Republic.
The Go 242 came about as the successor to the smaller DFS 230 glider and was a design with a central nacelle, twin tail booms and a hinged rear section for loading. The A version was built as a pure transport; it carried a squad of troops or an equivalent load and tugs of the Heinkel He 111 or Junkers Ju 52 type got it into the air. It was deployed mainly in the Mediterranean and on the Eastern Front, where it supplied cut-off garrisons and carried materiel to improvised strips. The airframe later gave rise to the powered Go 244 variant with a pair of captured engines.
Separate the finest parts with a sharp knife on glass or a hard surface, not with scissors. Make the bends over the edge of a ruler and dose the glue with a pin. Degrease the metal before painting and use a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Finish and paint the inside of the cargo compartment before you close the fuselage.
This is an accessory for a model; the package contains neither plastic, nor paints, nor glue.
