An accessory set in 1:72 scale capturing the open airbrake of the Harrier GR.5, GR.7 and GR.9 aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Harrier GR.5, GR.7 and GR.9 are the British second-generation forms of the aircraft with short takeoff and vertical landing, which served with the Royal Air Force. The airbrake is placed on the underside of the fuselage and on a machine at rest it tends to be seen open, so it pays to open it on a model.
The set in 1:72 scale captures the airbrake in the open position. It replaces the corresponding part of the kit; the extent of the parts, the reworking of the model needed and the order of the work all follow the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are not of polystyrene, so polystyrene cement has no effect on them. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue; on larger areas two-part epoxy suits too, as it gives a longer time to line the part up. Cut the surplus material and the marks of manufacture off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder with fine abrasive paper. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the finish will not hold on them. Lay the primer on thinly, so that the edges and the fine surface relief are not filled in. An open brake reveals an interior that is not usually in view on a model, so it pays to set it apart in color and bring it out with a wash.
The set is for modelers who want to build a model in the parked position with all the surfaces open. Working with it calls for a sharp blade, tweezers and a steady hand.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
