The Hawk 200 is the single-seat combat version of the British Hawk trainer. While the basic Hawk is a two-seat machine for advanced training, the 200 version received a new forward fuselage with a single cockpit and was offered as a light multi-role combat aircraft to countries looking for a low-cost replacement for older machines. The powerplant remained the Rolls-Royce Turbomeca Adour turbofan engine, so the airframe differs from the training version mainly at the front. The serial number ZG200 belongs to one of the Hawk 200 test machines registered in the United Kingdom.
With short-run models, count on more careful preparation of the parts: dry-fit them, remove small sprue nubs and sand the seams back beforehand. Glue with thin cement for plastic and finish the cockpit before you close the fuselage. Lay down a primer before painting, which will also reveal the places still to be sanded. Spray the exterior finish with an airbrush, use a gloss clear coat under the decals and even the surface out at the end with a matte or satin clear coat. The canopy is a prominent feature on this type — masking tape cut into thin strips pays off.
