A detail set from Aires in 1:72 scale. It contains precisely cast resin main landing gear wheels for the Hawker Hurricane fighter, and masking film to go with them for spraying the tires and the hubs cleanly. The wheels tend to be cast with a suggestion of load, a flattened contact patch, which looks more realistic than symmetrical plastic parts. The accessory is not an aircraft model in itself.
The Hawker Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter. Together with the Spitfire it formed the backbone of British fighter defense in the Battle of Britain in 1940, and in later years it served in a number of roles on further fronts as well. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine.
Separate the wheels from the casting blocks with a saw and wash them to remove the mold release agent. Stick the masks onto the hubs, spray the rest of the tire and peel the mask off once dry. Use super glue for bonding resin. A muted dark gray suits the tires better than pure black.
