About product

He 111H-6 bomb bay 1:72 - photo-etched accessory from Eduard

A photo-etched detail accessory from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:72 scale for a model of the German bomber Heinkel He 111 in its H-6 version. It is not a standalone model but a set of photo-etched parts with which you detail a plastic kit. The set is shaped for one specific version of the real subject and is aimed at the bomb bay. The parts stay on a fret from which they are separated after bending and gluing.

The real subject

The Heinkel He 111 was one of the main medium bombers of the Luftwaffe in the Second World War. It was marked out by its glazed nose, a pair of radial or V engines and a range that made it the backbone of the bomber units in the early years of the war. The H-6 version is among the widespread production variants of this machine. The photo-etched accessory helps bring a model closer to the real subject in places where the plastic kit is simplified as it comes from the factory.

What the set contains

The set concentrates on the bomb bay - it holds photo-etched bulkheads, hinges, walls and details of the bomb bay, thanks to which the bay can be built open and full of detail. The photo-etched parts of thin sheet replace or complete the plastic walls of the bay and make it possible to present the model with the bay open. The He 111H-6 designation refers to the real version of the bomber the set is shaped for.

Usage tips

Bond the bomb bay parts with super glue and seat them carefully into the fuselage before it is glued together. An open bomb bay stands out once the interior is painted, brought out with a wash and dry-brushed on the edges. Before painting, degrease the parts, lay down primer and spray the paint with an airbrush in thin coats. Fine edges are brought out after gluing with a wash and dry-brushing. Working with photo-etch calls for tweezers, a sharp knife and patience.

Who the set is for

  • For modelers building the Heinkel He 111 in 1:72 scale
  • For anyone interested in the greatest fidelity of airframe and interior detail
  • For more experienced modelers used to photo-etched accessories and super glue
  • As an enrichment of a plastic kit with fine metal features

This is a detail set, not a model. The kit itself, glue, paints and other materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

No. It is a photo-etched accessory, that is a set of fine metal parts with which you detail your Heinkel He 111 model. The kit has to be owned or bought separately.

It lets you build the bomb bay open and full of detail - photo-etched bulkheads, hinges and bay walls take the place of simplified plastic.

Rather for more experienced modelers. Working with photo-etch calls for tweezers, bending the parts and bonding with super glue (cyanoacrylate).
