This injection-molded plastic kit from UM in 1:72 scale represents the German S.Sp type heavy armored railway car in its artillery configuration. The set holds plastic parts for the armored body of the car, a rotating turret and extra photo-etched parts.
The German army began building S.Sp heavy armored railway cars in 1944. They could operate on their own or be marshalled into a train of similar cars. The artillery variant carried a tank turret with a short 75 mm gun, and the armor reached on the order of 20 mm. From the autumn of 1944 these cars appeared in the fighting in the Balkans.
Give attention to seating the turret at a right angle and to fitting the running bogies. Railway vehicles come into their own in a diorama with a section of track. Use liquid cement on the plastic; we recommend a primer, an airbrush and weathering with washes and pigments for rust and dust.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
