Kelik 1:72 HMS Indomitable Front Lift 1942 is a color display base with the motif of the forward lift platform of this British aircraft carrier for 1:72 models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This base from Kelik shows the area of the forward lift platform on the deck of the British aircraft carrier HMS Indomitable as she was in 1942. The lift is one of the few places on a deck with a clearly bounded shape, and it therefore frames a model by itself.
The area of the lift is visually the most interesting part of a deck: the outline of the platform leads the viewer's eye straight to the model and at the same time gives the scene a clear composition. For an aircraft with folded wings it is moreover historically the right place, because that is exactly how machines were lowered into the hangar below deck. The scene thus gains an internal logic and the viewer sees at once at what stage of operations the moment was captured.
Indomitable was among the British carriers with an armored flight deck, meant to stand up to air attack. In 1942 she took part in operations in the Indian Ocean and then in covering a convoy to besieged Malta, where she took heavy hits. Her service thus illustrates well what the concept of the armored deck was built for.
The product serves as a base under a finished model; it does not replace a kit.
