A die-cut self-adhesive masking set for the Soviet ground-attack aircraft Ilyushin Il-10 in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand Peewit. It is not an airplane model but a set of precisely cut masks in fine masking tape that make it easier to spray the frames of the canopy and other surfaces cleanly, without laborious hand cutting of tape.
The Il-10 was a Soviet single-engine ground-attack aircraft of the end of the Second World War that followed on from the famous Il-2 Shturmovik and brought aerodynamically cleaner shapes and better flying qualities. The armored cockpit protected the two-man crew of a pilot and a rear gunner. It served with the armed forces of a number of Eastern Bloc countries after the war and was also built under license in Czechoslovakia. The long two-seat canopy with its many frames is a rewarding place for precise masks.
Transfer the masks onto a perfectly clean and degreased surface, place them accurately and press the edges down carefully with a toothpick or a burnisher, so that paint does not seep under them. Spray the inner shade of the framing first, the outer color once it has dried, and remove the masks before the paint has fully cured. Any adhesive residue comes off with gentle moistening.
The set contains self-adhesive masks; it is not a model or a kit. Paints, glue and the basic kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
