This is a small modeling accessory for figures in 1:72 scale, not a kit of its own. You use it where you need to swap the headgear on a figure, bring a group of figures into one form of equipment, or add a helmet set down to a scene: on an ammunition crate, on equipment, on the fender of a vehicle. The manufacturer makes the pattern in two versions, a standard one and one marked detail, and besides 1:72 it is released in other scales as well, so always choose by the exact wording of the name.
The OR-201 helmet, in modeling practice also designated M76, is an Israeli composite helmet introduced in the middle of the 1970s and used for long decades. It differs from the steel helmets of the earlier generation in shape alone: the bowl is drawn out to the rear and has a pronounced rim running round it, which lightens the helmet to the eye. In practice it was often worn with a cloth cover pulled down by an elastic band, under which soldiers tucked small items of equipment. It is exactly that profile which makes the helmet an easily recognized feature of modern Israeli scenes.
Separate the casting carefully from the casting block, clean up the parting line and wash it in warm water with detergent before painting: remains of mold release agent are the most common cause of paint peeling later. The accessory is glued to a figure with cyanoacrylate glue; classic cement for plastic does not hold reliably here. Apply the base coat in a thin layer, so that the fine edges are not filled in. At so small a scale a restrained method looks best: the base shade, a darker wash into the rim running round it and light drybrushing of the raised edges.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without a figure. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
