About product

CMK 1:72 J2M3 Raiden cockpit set (resin accessory)

A detail resin set in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer CMK, supplemented with a photo-etched fret. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory that replaces the pilot's station of the Japanese J2M3 Raiden interceptor. The set contains the side walls and the floor of the cockpit, bulkheads, a seat with belts, an instrument panel and a control stick; the instrument faces are usually pre-printed on film. Intended for plastic J2M3 Raiden models in this scale. The set is designed for the J2M3 Raiden kit from Hasegawa.

The real subject

The Mitsubishi J2M Raiden, Allied reporting name Jack, was a Japanese interceptor of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service, conceived for a fast rate of climb against bombers. It was marked by a sturdy fuselage and a powerful radial engine with a strikingly shaped cowling.

Building and painting tips

Wash the parts free of release agent, cut off the casting blocks and glue with cyanoacrylate glue; protect your airways when sanding. It is best to paint and assemble the cockpit completely before closing the fuselage. Pick out the photo-etched belts and the instrument panel with a fine wash and a dry brush.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers building the J2M3 Raiden with an open, well-detailed cockpit
  • More experienced builders used to resin and photo-etch
  • Collectors of Japanese Second World War fighters

The accessory is supplied unpainted as a resin set with photo-etch. Paints, glue and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
