Precisely cut self-adhesive masks in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Peewit. The set is intended for covering the glazed areas of a model while spraying paint, so that the frames of the glazing come out crisply and evenly without laborious hand painting over. It is neither a kit nor a sheet of decals, but an accessory to a model that you obtain separately. The masks are shaped according to the particular shape of the glazing, so they seat on the parts without lengthy trimming.
The Junkers F.13 was an all-metal transport aircraft from 1919, one of the first machines of its class with an enclosed cabin for passengers and with a corrugated duralumin skin. It was used in civil transport all over the world and was produced in many forms, including float ones. It is precisely the glazing of the cabin with its many small rectangular windows that is the most laborious part of the surface while building a model, because a hand-drawn boundary between glass and skin is hard to keep up over such small areas.
Before the masks are stuck on, the glazing has to be clean and degreased, otherwise the film will not seat and the paint will flow under. Take the masks off the sheet with a sharp knife or tweezers and press them down from the center toward the edges with a stick or a piece of wood, not with a finger. Cover the remaining exposed areas with masking tape or masking fluid. Spray the paint in several light layers; a heavy layer flakes off while the mask is being removed and forms a step. First spray a thin layer of the cockpit color, so that any leaks seal the edge, and only then continue with the camouflage. Remove the mask shortly after it has dried, not after several days, and pull it back at an angle over itself.
This is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The model, paints and masking tape are not included in the package.
