Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien (Tony) 1:72 from Tamiya is a modern plastic kit of the Japanese fighter of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale depicts the Japanese Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien fighter, known to the Allies by the code name Tony, in the Ki-61-Id version. It is a modern tooling with fine engraving, well-fitting parts and a clear cockpit canopy. Tamiya is a Japanese manufacturer renowned for outstanding buildability and precise parts, so the kit suits less experienced modelers as well.
The Ki-61 Hien was an unusual Japanese fighter with a liquid-cooled V12 engine, which gave it a slender nose resembling European fighters and led to the code name Tony. The Ki-61-Id version received a lengthened nose and heavier armament, 20 mm cannon in the wings among it. It was committed from 1943 and was among the capable Japanese army fighters of the closing war.
Thanks to the precision of the parts, the ordinary procedure is enough for the build: equip and paint the cockpit before closing up the fuselage, join the plastic with a thin cement and sand the joints lightly. Apply a primer; on machines in bare metal use metallic shades or foil, pick out the panel lines with a fine wash and use a gloss varnish under the decals against silvering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
