Dead Design 1:72 Ki-32 Mary national insignia and markings masks is a set of templates through which the Japanese insignia are sprayed with paint onto a model of the light bomber.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Dead Design masking set serves for spraying the Japanese national insignia and additional markings. You apply the template to a finished coat, spray over it and once it is lifted the insignia is in the paint of the model itself. The set contains neither a model nor paints.
On Japanese aircraft the main element of the insignia is a deep red disc, and that is exactly what causes the greatest trouble when painting. Red pigments generally have low covering power, and on the dark green or brown camouflage that Japanese army machines wore they turn after drying into a dull brick patch. The solution is simple and is used as standard with masks: a covering white is sprayed through the template first, left to dry, and only then does the red come on top of it. The white also serves as a check on whether paint is creeping under the edge of the mask anywhere, because on white every seepage is visible at once.
The Ki-32 is a single-engine bomber with long glazing and flat wing areas, so a mask is laid on fairly easily. Even so, reckon with the area having to be free of dust and grease. Wash the model before masking and let it dry through thoroughly. Spray in thin coats, letting the paint set between them, and lift the mask off while the coat is fresh.
