Canopy masks 1:72 Ki-43-II Hayabusa from the Czech manufacturer Dead Design Models are pre-cut self-adhesive stencils for the frames of the glazing and for the wheel discs.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of pre-cut masking stencils in 1:72 scale for the Ki-43 fighter aircraft in its second production pattern. The masks are cut from fine kabuki-type masking tape, hold well on the rounded canopy and leave no adhesive on the glazing once taken off. Besides the cockpit frames, the set covers the wheel discs as well. It is not a kit but an accessory that will speed up the preparation of a model before spraying.
The Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa was a single-seat army fighter aircraft with a radial engine, carried by the Allies under the code name Oscar. The Ki-43-II pattern received a more powerful engine, a revised wing of smaller span and further changes in the cowling and the equipment of the cockpit. It also differs from the first series in details of the glazing, so the masks are not interchangeable between the patterns. The frames of the canopy are small and hard to mask by hand in this scale.
Wash the glazing, degrease it and let it dry out perfectly. Lift the individual masks off with tweezers and press them down with a toothpick along the whole length of the frame. The recommended order is the interior paint, a thin sealing coat of the exterior paint and only then the full color. Apply the coats lightly, or a visible step will arise at the edge of the mask. Remove the stencils shortly after drying, slowly and at an acute angle. Put any small overruns right with a brush with a very fine point.
It is an accessory to a model, not a kit. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
